Now on Display: Artisans of Daufuskie Island
Daufuskie Island is nestled between the Cooper River and the Calibogue Sound at the southern most point of South Carolina. With no bridge from the mainland, the island maintains a distinct allure.
Daufuskie is now home to a small community of native islanders and those who have settled there since the mid 1980’s from all over the world.
Living on Daufuskie has inspired woodworkers, writers, weavers, painters, potters, photographers, rum distillers, indigo dyers, sculptors, soap makers, silk screeners and even the creator of Daufuskie Survival Spray – a special concoction to keep bugs away.
The Artisans of Daufuskie Island exhibition is a representation of that inspiration.
Contributing artists include:
Daufuskie Blues (Leanne Coulter and Rhonda Davis)
Daufuskie Peach (Jan Crosby)
Iron Fish Gallery (Chase Allen)
This unique collection of art will be on display through the end of May. Enjoy!
